Seit 1965 erschienen in den USA beim Label Disneyland Records die Reihe Little Long-Playing Records (LLP), welche der Kleine Langspielplatte als Vorlage diente. Die dort veröffentlichten Platten und Bücher sind Adaptionen beliebter Disney-Filme, Zeichentrickfilme und anderer 24 Seiten langer Geschichten. [1]
Ein Erzähler oder in einigen Titeln eine Figur der Geschichte in der Ich-Perspektive las die Geschichte vor, und es wurden Dialoge und Lieder aus dem adaptierten Werk aufgenommen. Der Klang von Tinkerbells Glöckchen war das Signal für den Leser, die Seite umzublättern. In manchen Versionen ersetzten andere Geräusche das Glockenläuten. Die Bücher enthielten immer den Slogan „SEE the pictures, HEAR the record, READ the book“.
In den meisten Fällen war der Sprecher Robie Lester bei den Titeln 1965-71 und Lois "Lane" Wilkinson bei den Titeln 1970-74, in den deutschen Fassungen übernahm Irene Koss diese Rolle.
- „Dies ist eine original Kleine-Langspielplatte von Walt Disney, und ich bin deine Märchenerzählerin aus Disneyland.“
In der englischen Fassung wurde die Einleitung nach der ersten LLP-Generation geändert.
- „This is a Disneyland original Little Long-Playing Record, and I am your story reader. I am now going to begin to read the story of [insert title here]. You can read along with me in your book. You will know it's time to turn the page when Tinker Bell rings her little bells like this: (sound of 'chimes' ringing). Let's begin now.“
Seit 1976 wurde diese Einleitung geändert:
- „This is the story of [insert title here]. You can read along with me in your book. You'll know it's time to turn the page when you hear the chimes ring like this: (sound of chimes ringing). Let's begin now.“
Das Hörspiel zu Peter And The Wolf enthielt kein Glockenspiel, so dass dieser Teil der Einleitung übersprungen wurde.
